It was not until legislation was enacted after the stock market crash in 1929 that annual reports became a regular component of corporate financial reporting. Now, they are a creative way to showcase the personality and depth of a brand and are often created in coordination with communications professionals.
For the public relations writing course Multimedia Studies, we were tasked with creating an annual report for a real company. I chose to create an annual report for The Borgen Project, a non-profit I was working as an advocate for at the time. My annual report includes a narrative section that details the work The Borgen Project accomplished in 2016, a letter from The Borgen Project’s founder Clint Borgen, and a description of what The Borgen Project does to be successful in their advocacy efforts.
